InsureTheLot
- Questions and answers
Q.
What level of cover is offered on Insurethelot?
A. The plans available on Insurethelot offer alternative
levels of cover. "Lifetime Budget" is offered by Petplan.
This means that as long as you renew your policy each year,
your maximum veterinary fees benefit is reinstated at each
renewal. Therefore if your pet develops an ongoing condition
you can go on claiming right into the pets old age. "Pet
Cover" is offered by DBI. This offers cheaper premiums
but you are limited to claiming only up to the maximum benefit
and only for a period of 12 months from the outset of the
condition."
Q.
If I apply for pet insurance, when does cover for my pet begin?
A. Cover for injury starts as soon as you complete your on-line
purchase. Cover for illness starts 14 days after your attachment
date as shown on your Certificate of Insurance
Q.
What is a claim excess?
A. A claim excess is the amount that you pay towards the cost
of treating each illness or injury during the period of cover
and is not related to any other illness or injury treated
during the same period of cover.
Q.
Are there any age restrictions on starting a new policy?
A. You can insure your pet from 8 weeks to their 8th birthday.
If you are insuring one of the Select breeds or a rabbit you
must insure your pet by their 5th birthday.
Q.
What is a select breed dog?
A. Just as some dogs cost more to feed, their veterinary care
costs more too. Therefore the following breeds incur a supplementary
premium - Bulldog, Beauceron, Deerhound, Dogue de Bordeaux,
Great Dane, Irish Wolfhound, Leonberger, All Mastiff Breeds,
Mountain (Bernese, Estrela and Pyrenean), Newfoundland, St
Bernard, Old English Sheepdog and Rottweiler.
