Why the name "Animal Friends"?
No, it doesn't mean they are just pet insurers! This name signifies that those who join them as customers are friends of animals and their environment - people who understand that someone has to do something rather then take profit to ensure that those with no voice are protected and the valuable environment upon which we all rely for our basic living needs is protected.

Animal Friends was the idea of Elaine Fairfax who set up Animal Friends Insurance(AFI) with assistance from her barrister husband, Chris. Both vegetarians, they have a lifelong love of animals and, over the 10 years they ran their own law firm, they helped a number of animal welfare and conservation causes with fundraising and free advice. Over the last few years they have worked closely with many respected animal and environmental charities and groups as well as with Parliament and the police on various animal welfare projects.

Elaine wanted to do more to help animals, so she started to use her business skills and contacts to raise substantial funds for animals and their environment through something people need anyway - pet insurance - rather than competing with others for charitable donations.

Elaine and Chris have worked hard over 3 years to make Animal Friends Insurance(AFI) a reality. They have negotiated an excellent range of competitive insurance products underwritten at Lloyds or by ABI approved British insurers and administered by experienced insurance intermediaries, Freeway Smith and Walker Limited ("FSW"). So Animal Friends Insurance(AFI) can offer motor, motor bike, house and contents, pet, travel, life, caravan, routine commercial (shops, offices etc) and bespoke commercial insurance.

Quotes are given and policies are processed over the phone by their approachable and experienced FSW operators who have been dedicated to Animal Friends. They are always happy to answer your questions. You even have the option to make easy premium payments by Direct Debit or by card.
Elaine and Chris know Animal Friends will be enormously successful and that it will lead the way to a new, responsible, business ethic. They have given up their successful law firm and remortgaged their home to devote all their time to Animal Friends Insurance(AFI) and to animal assistance / environmental support projects. They believe their commitment will be rewarded by a public who really want to help animals.

All Animal Friends' net profits will go to care for animals and their environment - Animal Friends hope to support many worthy projects. 50% of their commissions to groups who promote them. The other 50% of their commissions goes into the Animal Friends Discretionary Fund (after necessary deductions to run the company). Comprehensive and very keenly priced, it is specially underwritten for Animal Friends by Nottingham based pet insurers, IGI Insurance Company Limited. It offers their customers two options for Cat and Dog insurance. There is one premium for each regardless of location or breed (save for extra large dogs).
Importantly, they can take pets right up until they are 10 years old. Once a pet is insured with us, it is insured for life - AND, they do not add an "age loading" to premiums once an insured pet passes 10.
